CHA Somerville Urgent Care treats a wide variety of injuries and illness such as:

  • Sick visits – cold, flu, infections, sore throat, earaches, upset stomach
  • Insect bites, rashes, unexplained bumps
  • Minor cuts and scrapes, wound care, and stitches
  • Minor sprains, strains, and back pain
  • Minor broken bones
  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s)
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s)
  • X-rays and limited lab testing
  • Dehydration
  • Injections or intravenous medications
  • Note: we are not a COVID testing site

If you have a serious illness or injury.
Please call 9-1-1 or go to your nearest emergency room. CHA has 24-hour emergency care at Cambridge Hospital and Everett Hospital.

  • Parking, Public Transportation, Shuttle Service

    Parking:

    There are two CHA parking lots: on Highland Ave and on Crown Street (behind the hospital).

    For Urgent Care, the OB/GYN Center, Surgery or Medical Specialties, please park in the Crown Street lot and use the Main Entrance on Tower Street.

    The cost is $3 - $8, depending on your length of stay. Both parking lots are cash-only. There is an ATM inside the main lobby of the hospital. Click here for current parking rates at Cambridge and Somerville Campus.

    Public Transportation:

    Bus: 88, 90

    Train: Red Line, Davis Square or Porter Square, then take the bus.

    There is a bus shelter outside the Highland Building. Will have a short walk up the hill to the Tower Street Main Entrance. 

    Shuttle Service:

    CHA offers a shuttle between Cambridge Hospital, the Somerville Campus and other CHA locations.

  • COVID Guidelines
    Who can come with you or visit you in the hospital?

    Patients coming for a clinic visit, to Urgent care or to the Emergency Department are allowed to bring at least one person with them. Additional people will be at the discretion of the provider and clinic.

    If you are coming to visit a patient in the hospital, please see our Visitor Policy page for current standards. .


    Please wear a mask when you come in.

    Don't worry, we'll be wearing them too. 

    Please do not wear a mask with valves or vents. These protect you but don't protect others.


    Everyone will be screened for illness before entering.

    You may be asked questions about COVID symptoms (fever or chills, shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.)

    If you are feeling sick, or have been near someone who you know has COVID-19, please call us before your visit. Your care team may give you advice over the phone or ask you to be seen at a different location.


    You will be asked to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when you enter any CHA building.

Walk-in Care from an Expert Care Team

When you visit CHA urgent care, you will get care from an expert team. This includes trained emergency room physicians (MDs), registered nurses (RNs) and physician assistants (PAs).

    Our nurses and doctors are always able to answer questions on the phone, even when the office is closed.

    Please visit CHA Somerville Campus Urgent Care at 33 Tower Street, Somerville.

    If you are having a health emergency:

    Call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room.

    You can find 24 hour care with short wait times at CHA Cambridge Hospital and CHA Everett Hospital. When you go to a CHA emergency room, your CHA doctor will be notified about your health needs and can help coordinate your care.

    There may be a cost for copies - If you want copies, we will charge a reasonable fee for them. We will also charge you for postage costs, if you want us to mail the copies to you.

  • Get refills?

    For the best service, just call your pharmacy to get your prescription refilled.

    Please don’t wait until your medication is gone before calling. However, if you do run out, please tell the pharmacist. They may be able to give you some medication until your refill has been approved.
