Additional Information
I am a primary care physician at our CHA Somerville Pediatrics location.
I went to medical school in Cleveland, Ohio and started out as an MD-PhD candidate, but quickly realized that I wanted to concentrate on clinical care. I fell in love with pediatrics during my third year and headed to New England to complete my training in Connecticut. I started working for CHA right of out of residency. My interest in teaching students and residents motivated me to do a Fellowship in Medical Education from 2010-2011.
Pediatrics allowed me to study diseases specific to children, and I liked the atmosphere of pediatric hospitals and clinics. I found that pediatricians were generally happy people to work around. I also was impressed by the positive attitudes of sick children and the resiliency of children in general.
My work here has so many rewards. I spend a good portion of my time teaching medical students and residents, and I enjoy watching them develop into the upcoming generation of physicians. But my favorite times happen unexpectedly - at the end of my worst days, a hug from a 2 year old patient is the best remedy. Nothing makes me smile like hearing 'Dr. Kasper, I love you' - from 5 year olds and teenagers alike.
Outside of work I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time with my young daughter.
